Pierre Sterckx collabore à Beaux Arts magazine depuis 1997. Il fut enseignant à l'École nationale supérieure des beaux-arts à Paris. Il a commencé sa carrière de critique d'art. Ami proche d'Hergé et "tintinologue" réputé, il est surtout connu comme conférencier et conseiller de collectionneurs.
Ses nombreuses rencontres avec les artistes (Warhol, Rauschenberg, Stella, Oldenburg, Haring, etc.) lui ont conféré une sensibilité particulière: il conçoit son métier comme une poétique critique. Il a publié une dizaine de livres, notamment 50 géants de l'art américain (Ed. Beaux Arts), et Le devenir cochon de Wim Delvoye (Ed. La lettre volée).
