Biographie

Né à Gand en 1862, Maurice Maeterlinck se consacre rapidement à la littérature. Dès 1889, il publie un recueil de poèmes, Serres Chaudes, et une pièce de théâtre, La Princesse Maleine, qui traduisent ses préoccupations symbolistes. Poète, dramaturge et essayiste, il reçoit en 1911 le Prix Nobel de littérature. Il meurt à Orlamonde, près de Nice, en 1949.
