Jean Léturgie est né à Caen en 1947. Après avoir été secrétaire de Serge Reggiani, attaché de presse chez Glénat et collaborateur de plusieurs revues du même éditeur, il scénarise le premier tome de Percevan dessiné par Luguy en 1979. Dès 1982, il écrit un certain nombre d'épisodes de Lucky Luke et la série Ran-Tan-Plan à partir de 1987. En 88, il signe l'adaptation de Lucky Luke en dessin animé, et l'année suivante écrit Les Tifous pour André Franquin. Parmi de nombreux autres projets, il est l'auteur de Cotton Kid chez Vents d'Ouest. Avec son fils Simon, il a signé Le Contrat Bob Steel, Polstar et Vioq Micmac, et avec Yann Tékila, Spoon & White .
